Milford Middle School
The Milford Middle School has a very active student council which promotes social and academic activities for the entire student body. Twenty-eight percent of the student body made the honor roll every quarter. Community involvement is encouraged to teach our students civic responsibilities. We also promote participation in academic competitions through History Day, Texaco Star Challenge, Science Fair, Odyssey of the Mind, and Math Competitions. Our transition programs for new fifth graders coming in and 8th graders going to the high school are developed by the administrators, teachers, and students to meet the needs of both students coming and leaving our middle school. Another highlight of our school is the multicultural program to meet the needs of our varied student population. Milford Middle School was the recipient of a CSRD Title I School Improvement Grant. We were one of six schools in the state to receive this honor. Through the money received in the CSRD grant, the fifth and sixth grade students worked and learned in an integrated curriculum. Each unit ended with a culminating expedition reinforcing the objectives of the unit taught. During the school year, the Accelerated Reader Program was implemented into the curriculum, grades 5-8. The Accelerated Reader Program and Accelerated Math Program will be used in conjunction with the CCC program for our Summer School students. |
